Edward Weston's Khazi エドワード・ウェストンの便器

During research for my photography lectures, I came across this once again.

エドワード・ウェストン (Edward Weston、1886年3月24日〜1958年1月1日）はアメリカの写真家で、グループf/64の創設メンバー。彼の写真は、ほとんど8X10インチの木製大判カメラ（ビュー・カメラ）で撮られている。
ヌード、自然の植物などの静物、 デスヴァレー、雲・木・水、建築と壁、ポートレイトのジャンル別の写真が撮っている大先生です。

ウェストンが『私の便器は銅像、「サモトラケのニケ」ぐらいきれいです』と宣言しました。ああ〜なんと言う気取り屋だ！

"I have been photographing our toilet, that glossy enameled receptacle of extraordinary beauty. Here was every sensuous curve of the "human figure divine" but minus the imperfections. Never did the Greeks reach a more significant consummation to their culture, and it somehow reminded me, in the glory of its chaste convulsions and in its swelling, sweeping, forward movement of finely progressing contours, of the Victory of Samothrace".
